BC Museums Week 2025
Building the Future
May 12 – 18, 2024 | #BCMW25
For BC Museums Week 2025, our theme is “Building the Future.”
Last year, our theme was “Imagine the Future,” and in 2025, the BCMA is highlighting members who are actively building a new future within their community.
From building new relations to centre Indigenous voices, to creating new hands-on STEAM experiences to inspire future generations of innovators, to literally rebuilding museums, BCMW2025 will highlight work our members are doing to help build brighter futures in their communities.

2025 Media Kit
In 2025, the BC Museums Association is asking our members for their help telling the story of how museums, galleries, and heritage sites change lives.
May 12-18 is BC Museums Week, and on International Museum Day (Sunday, May 18), we call upon our members to share a story about the impact you have on the lives of your community.

BC Museums Week Live Podcast – ‘Exploring models of cultural engagement’ with Nina Buddhdev
May 13, 3:30 PM – 4:30 PM
Join us live for a podcast recording with Nina Buddhdev! Listen and participate live as we discuss Nina’s work (and insights) on building brighter futures with her communities within the arts and heritage sector. Nina’s dedication to advancing heritage arts through belonging, adaptation and respectful representation of living cultures is carried through her multifaceted work and roles in the sector. Nina sits on the Advisory Council for the BCMA, is a globally acknowledged curator, artist, and the founder of the Bandish Network.
A live podcast is a new format of programming for the BCMA. Done in Zoom webinar format, with participant camera and audio turned off, the live podcast is an opportunity for members to help shape the discussion through the Q&A feature in the chat! Podcasts will then be edited and shared on the BCMA website for future listening.

Chapter 3 (“Remember”) from Undrowned: Black Feminist Lessons from Marine Mammals by Alexis Pauline Gumbs
Come join us for a special rendition of Beyond the Margins for BC Museums Week! Beyond the Margins seeks to create a supportive intersectional space focused on community building in the arts, culture, and heritage sector. This growth-oriented network provides a space to learn from one another and build solidarity amongst queer and IBPOC folks through the exploration of diverse media. Haven’t had a chance to listen to/read the media? You are always welcome to join us for conversation! Please get in touch if you need assistance in accessing the media. Hosting joint network events is intended as a way to celebrate and hold space for intersectionalities of identity and fill gaps in this type of programming – all who identify as IBPOC and/or 2SLGBTQIA+ are welcome!
