BCMA Workshop: Making Your Case - Visitor Data for Advocacy
BCMA Workshop: Making Your Case - Visitor Data for Advocacy
Tuesday, April 29th, Thursday May 1st, Tuesday May 6th, and Thursday May 8th 2025
9:00 am - 12:30 pm
In a time of austerity and unrest, supporting and empowering our members as places of community, connectivity, support, and advocacy is now more critical than ever. Organizations need funding and accessible tools and hope to accomplish this. Capturing useful data through visitor studies can help you better understand your visitors and communicate your impact. This results in stronger and more successful advocacy and revenue development.
This workshop is led by Tara Miller, a Visitor Study Consultant, based in Vancouver, Canada. Tara has a background in heritage interpretation, a Masters degree in Interpretation: Management and Practice, and is passionate about empowering museum and heritage professionals to use simple and effective evaluation in their work.
To create this workshop, Tara has combined content from two existing courses Foundations of Visitor Studies and Analysis and Presenting the Data, to create a comprehensive introduction to running simple visitor studies independently. Expect time for group discussions, self-reflection, and the creation of your own data collection tool.
This is a 4-part workshop and will be held over Zoom.
Workshop fee: $175.00 for BCMA Members, $250 for non-members.
