Announcing the Call for Nominations for BCMA’s Annual Awards for Outstanding Achievement!
In the past year, we have seen British Columbia’s museums, art galleries, Indigenous cultural centres, historic places, and other cultural heritage organizations respond to the changing world with innovative solutions, socially conscious initiatives, and community-driven experiences. These organizations, and the individuals behind them, deserve to be recognized for their ingenuity, dedication to their communities, and readiness to push the boundary of what it means to be a “museum”.
The BCMA invites nominations for the 2021 BCMA Awards for Outstanding Achievement to highlight these contributions to the cultural heritage sector. We invite all BCMA members to look at your circle of co-workers, partners, and stakeholders to identify and nominate those who deserve to be recognized and honoured with an Award.
The BCMA Awards annually acknowledge individuals, projects, and initiatives from museums, art galleries, and cultural centres across BC. The nominees represent a vast array of institutions – from large, provincial institutions to small, volunteer-run community organizations, and everything in between. BCMA welcomes and encourages nominations that champion the diverse array of staff and volunteers who work every day to respond to the ever-changing needs of the sector and their communities. Each year the BCMA recognizes the outstanding work done by you, your colleagues, and partner organizations.
Please consider nominating an organization, even your organization, for the following awards:
- Award of Merit – Excellence in Community Engagement
- Award of Merit – Innovative Practice
- Award of Merit – Social Impact

We look forward to receiving your nominations!
