Posting to the Listserv

To post a notice on the Listserv, send your post to: listserv@lists.museum.bc.ca.

No instructions on the post are required (such as ā€œPlease post this to the Listservā€), simply write as if you are talking to the entire group. It is best to include all information within the body of the email rather than adding attachments as some recipients have inbox size limits. Small attachments like a low-resolution photo of items or a small PDF are generally fine to post. The subject line should clearly indicate what your notice is about (such as ā€œJob Posting: Exhibit Technicianā€ or ā€œInformation required on 1920s dressā€ or ā€œSolutions for storage?ā€). Unless it is a post that may result in a discussion that would benefit others, please include your contact information so that members can contact you directly.

FAQ

What can be posted?
To ensure all interactions within the BC Museums Association Listserv are safe and friendly, BC Museums Association staff moderate Listserv activity and will occasionally review, edit, and delete any inappropriate content that has been submitted. This includes, but is not limited to, abusive or offensive language, spam, malicious files, misleading information, or other disrespectful content. Please note that not all user-submitted content is representative of the BC Museums Association, nor does it necessarily represent the views of the BC Museums Association, its staff or members.

Why haven’t I seen my message go through?

All posts are subject to BCMA moderation. It may take 1-2 business days for the post to be distributed.

PLEASE NOTE: the email address used to submit a post will not receive a copy of the original post, only responses.

Why did I get an email saying I’m not a member?Ā

After submitting a post to the listserv, you may receive an automated message stating the need for moderation due to a “non-member post to a member-only listserv”. This is not referencing your BCMA membership status.Ā In this instance, the message means you are not a moderator. Your post has been received and will be reviewed and posted shortly.

How do I unsubscribe?Ā
