Capturing Queer Legacies: Community Storytelling Panel
Wednesday, November 5, 26 | December 3, 10, 2025
12:30 pm PT
In recent years, the arts and culture sector has begun to embrace more diverse narratives - an encouraging step toward broader inclusion. This moment offers an opportunity for institutions to move away from one-off programming, and work toward building strong community connections and longevity into their programs.
As queer stories are woven into the fabric of institutions, it is essential for 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals to have an understanding of the story collecting and telling process, so that we are involved in and have agency over our own narratives.
In this workshop series, 2SLGBTQIA+ participants will hear from queer artists and creatives about methods of storytelling, gain hands-on experience documenting their story, and learn the basics of archiving. You do not need to be a visual artist to attend, anyone who identifies as 2SLGBTQIA+ with an interest in personal narrative in storytelling is encouraged to take part.
We encourage participants to attend all workshops; however, it is not a requirement and you may attend any or all. The final workshop will be an optional opportunity to share what you’ve been working on, so participants are encouraged to have attended one of the first three.
*Please note that this series is specifically for self-identified 2SLGBTQIA+ professionals, students, or volunteers in the arts, culture, and heritage sector. We thank you for respecting this affinity space.
