Listen & Watch
A few weeks ago, we recommended an episode from The Quarantine Tapes of the interview of Kevin Young, the new director of the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. To fully appreciate the lineage of the leadership of this institution, listen to the story of Lonnie Bunch from NPR’s Code Switch, the founding director of the Blacksonian, Kevin Young’s predecessor. Good news, Lonnie is still nearby, now as the 14th Secretary of the Smithsonian.
Giving a bit of a belated love to Asian Heritage Month. explorAsian Festival this year offered a special event with The Hafu It podcast hosts, Kiyoko Sugimoto and Sakura Yoshida, and the Vancouver Japanese Language School and Japanese Hall. Check out their podcast here, particularly the penultimate episode of their first season, “Being Japanese Canadian”.
