Microgrants Available to Help Us Tell the Story of Why Museums Matter

For BC Museums Week 2023, the BCMA wants to help tell the story of how museums change lives – and we need our members’ help. If you know a community member who is passionate about the impact of your museum and would like to share their story, we are offering ten $350 microgrants to help document the impact of museums.

This could be the story of a volunteer whose social life is enriched by your museum, the story of an emerging artist who found a platform at your gallery, or the story of someone who hosted an unforgettable event at your heritage site. We believe in the transformative power of museums and we are looking for stories that can help illustrate how our members change lives.

Deadlines and Details

Microgrant applications are open from April 12 to 26, 2023. Members can submit their application here by sharing a brief (1-3 sentence) description of the story they hope to share.

Stories can be documented via video, audio recording, or in writing and must be received by the BCMA by May 10, 2023. Video/audio interviews must be no longer than 2 minutes and interviewees must consent to have their stories shared by the BCMA on social media during BC Museums Week 2023 (May 14-20).

Participating BCMA members will be given $250 for their time and a $100 honoraria for the interviewee.
